New Articles for July and August

The newsletters for this month and next month feature articles summarizing several excellent books I recently read. You will learn about the exciting and hopeful work of two medical doctors (Dr. Jason Fung and Dr. Dale E. Bredesen) who are preventing and reversing three of the most prevalent health issues we face today. Dr. Jason Fung is proving this with Type 2 diabetes and Dr. Dale E. Bredesen is showing this with Alzheimer’s disease. As you would expect they are facing criticism and ridicule from others in their profession, yet they have the real cases to support their success.

This month the newsletter features Dr. Fung and next month will feature Dr. Bredesen.

Why My Supplements Work
Common questions I hear from my clients are: Why do you use supplements in your practice? How did you choose these specific products and companies? And why are supplements not FDA approved?

One of my mentors, Dr. Davis Brockenshire, put together a short video which answers these questions and more. I am sharing it with you as what he says applies to my practice and I carry the same product lines as him. Click the link to watch the video and get the answers to these commonly asked questions.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzYwR8JPKiA&feature=youtu.be&inf_contact_key=0d42c2aee0354d6ed2a6fbaac47f5e60e622c96ea1e7a62c202cbe8aa82e6838

The Sure-Fire Way to Lose Weight
As a holistic nutritionist, it is important for me to provide my readers and clients with information to improve their health and to share this information with others. Much of this information is not readily available, may be considered controversial, or is dismissed by the main stream as anecdotal or not supported by science. Yet the truth is that many people have benefited and there is real science to back it up.

I recently came across the work of Dr. Jason Fung, a Toronto based specialist in kidney diseases who treats patients with end-stage kidney disease requiring dialysis. Most of them are obese and diabetic. While some may consider his work controversial, I have seen the results of his advice first hand in addition to the success stories he provides.

According to Dr. Fung, Type 2 diabetes is fully reversible and preventable and he does this without using medications or surgery. The key is to control the insulin resulting from the diet and to do that using intermittent fasting.

New study demonstrates the effects of intermittent fasting on body weight and metabolic disease risk factors in obesity
From the Designs for Health blog:
Intermittent fasting has become increasingly more popular over the past few years to support weight loss, insulin resistance, and aging. However, there have been limited human clinical studies on this topic. Now, in a new study published last Friday in Nutrition and Healthy Aging, researchers demonstrated the benefits of intermittent fasting in obesity.

This was a 12-week study that included 23 patients 25 to 65 years of age. They all had a BMI ranging from 30 to 45 kg/m2, were non-diabetic, did not smoke, had no history of cardiovascular disease, had a sedentary to light active lifestyle, and were not on any weight loss, lipid- or glucose-lowering medications.

Client Success Story: This Time The UTI Did Not Come Back
“It is empowering to work with Bernie and learn ways to help your body when it needs support. Recently, I had a urinary tract infection and was given a round of antibiotics from my primary care doctor. I reluctantly took them and felt better. Two days after I had finished the course of antibiotics the UTI had returned, and my doctor was ready to prescribe a second round. I knew this would not be good for my body so I reached out to Bernie. He was able to identify what was needed to kill the bacteria and support my health overall. I felt better quickly and Bernie was helpful and accessible throughout the process. It was such a relief to know that I helped my body heal naturally.” L.E.
